Ha ha ha ha. Note/Disclaimer: This is an informal blog by the ex-applicants, and does not reflect the views of the selection comm in any way. This post is by Genevieve Antono, and does not reflect the views of the other applicants either. Nahaha.

.

Well well. For the scholarship selection from Singapore 05/07, we had three interviews, and one camp. The first interview was sometime in late November 2004, the camp and second interview before the O level results (final 20), and the third interview just after the O level results (final 10). As for tips as to how to conduct yourselves during this process, I guess the only one you need is, cliched as it may sound, "Just be Yourself".

.

And perhaps, "Try not to Cry when they Drill you". Hahahaha. They asked me about Sweatshops during my 1st interview, and I didn't know how to react so I cried. How incredibly stupid. Hahaha. Actually, I lost my cool a lot of times- we all did- the selection committee seems to just want to drive you nuts on purpose, haha! But you'd soon find out they're really all very nice people, so not to worry.

.

Well evidently, I didn't get the scholarship, but all the same, I'd strongly encourage all those out there who want to apply, to do so. I made very, very good friends at camp, and it so happens thatwe all go to the same JC now, so it's all quite excellent, really. (Just fyi- the people at camp now at ACJC- Bertrand, Aditya, sAm., Judith, Limmy, Alaric and me. Thats 7/20!! Hahaha.)

.

Oh and speaking of schools- During camp, there were generally only a few schools represented- CHIJ (tp), RGS, ACS(i), ACJC, HCJC. I personally was from Bukit Panjang Govt High School, and wasn't at ACJC then, so I felt rather left out and intimidated at. BUT!!! As a note of encouragement to those who aren't from "branded/over-represented schools", by some miracle, I made it to the final 10, and so did a guy from Chung-cheng (Yishun). So never, never give up, and there's no need to feel small or left out cause of which school you're from. I don't think it really matters to the selection comm. And w regards to feeling alone? You make friends, anyway. And I don't mean those kind of "surface/superficial friends" either!

.

Bothways, you don't lose out. Applying for the scholarship changed my life- it made me think about what I wanted in life, it motivated me, it broke my heart, it made me grow. And I smell bacon coming from the kitchen right now, so I'll re-edit this currently looking-very-trashy post if I have the time. If I don't, well. Apply apply apply anyway! You guys won't regret it! Hahaha. =)
